SUN ’n FUN Workshops can help you learn all the skills necessary to build your own plane or work on any other project that uses the same tools and techniques! If you're a hands-on person or are considering building an aircraft, you'll want to take part in these sessions.
Experienced instructors guide you through the techniques for each skill and answer your questions about specific projects. Don't miss these detailed and valuable sessions!
Our Workshops include: Inspection Authorization Renewal
and A&P Awards Program (Approved by the FAA for credit towards
the annual requirements for IA renewal and the A & P Awards Program.)
To get credit for attending, pick up a time sheet at the information booth and have the Workshop Instructor sign it. You'll also find workshops on metal shaping and basic sheet metal, fabric, resins and composites, prop carving, avionics, engines and woodworking to name a few!
WORKSHOPS
(Daily : 9am - 4pm)
Aircraft Woodwork
Get hands-on experience and see demonstrations of aircraft woodworking techniques.
Avionics / Electrical
Learn about the correct tools, materials and techniques needed to install or repair your Avionics / Electrical system. There will be both continuous
and scheduled presentations and demonstrations.
Central Florida Aerospace Academy (CFAA)
They will be assisting with Avionics, specializing in Soldering and Desoldering of Printed Circuit Boards. Also the technique of applying Shrink Tubing to insulate various types of Connections and terminals will be demonstrated. Visitors are welcome to take part in these hands-on activities.
Basic Sheet Metal
Learn the basics on riveting, drilling and sheet metal work techniques.
Kit Aircraft Building
Come into the basic sheet metal shop and see how a Zenith 701 aircraft is assembled and completed, including a Weight and Balance check of the completed aircraft.
Cable Swaging
Come in and learn how to swage fittings onto Aircraft Control Cables and learn and take part in the correct way to do Safety Wiring of Nuts, Bolts and Fittings etc. Learn how to use a Torque Wrench.

Composites
Learn how to make molds, general lay-ups, and how to make repairs and tips on working with fiberglass.
Computer Workshop
Participate in hands on computer resources including: flight planning tools, GPS navigation, and computer aided design. Design your homebuilt on the computer and then check out its flight characteristics by flying it on a simulator.
Engines
The Engine Workshop conducts demonstrations on Rotary, VW Aero, and Turboprop Engines. Assist in VW Aero Engine Teardown and Rebuild.
Fabric Covering
The fabric Covering Workshop gives you hands-on experience in covering an aircraft stabilizer with the Poly Fiber System.

Information Booth
Many of the Workshops have been approved by the FAA for credit towards the annual requirements for IArenewal and the A& PAwards Program. In addition we plan to have some of the Forums added to the list for this year.

Metal Shaping
Observe and participate in demonstrations showing how to put three
dimensional shapes in a flat piece of sheet metal, and learn how to stretch and shrink metal to obtain the desired shape.
Propeller Carving
Learn how to duplicate a propeller on a Propeller Carving Machine.

Welding
The welding workshop is equipped with supplies and experienced volunteers to assist the homebuilder and interested guests with instruction and demonstrations of proper Electric and Gas welding techniques.
For the Convention Attendee who wishes to gain experience and
knowledge, these Workshops are a bonus not only to the FAALicensed, A&P and IA Technician but to the Amateur Aircraft Builder alike. Pay the entrance fee at the gate and the rest is free. The cost of these Workshops if paid for individually would cost thousands of dollars, but SUN ‘n FUN provides all this for just the cost of admission.
