SUN ‘n FUN is pleased to announce two outstanding awards have been bestowed upon the following Aerospace Center for Excellence associates from the 2016 General Aviation Awards:

Mark Ducorsky, Director of Scholarships and Youth Programming, was recently honored as District Regional Flight Instructor of the Year and then went on to win Regional Flight Instructor of the Year. This award is presented to an aviation professional of very high caliber; one who promotes aviation safety; and one who demonstrates high standards, with valuable projects, within their local sphere of influence.

Mike Zidziunas was recently honored as District Aviation Maintenance Technician of the Year and then went on to win Regional Aviation Maintenance Technician of the Year. “Mike Z” as he is known on campus, oversees the Lakeland AeroClub, a group of about 80 students who restore and fly vintage aircraft.

SUN ‘n FUN’s Aerospace Center for Excellence in partnership with the Florida Aviation Network and the Federal Aviation Administration will showcase the accomplishments of the General Aviation Regional Award Winners, including Ducorsky and Zidziunas, during the 42nd SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In and Expo in April, 2016. This will be the first time the recognition ceremony has been organized to this scale in order to recognize the outstanding accomplishments. This experience will serve to further showcase the cooperation that exists between the Federal Aviation Administration and the general aviation community.
